To develop the Philosophy Buckeye Swim Club is a fun and instructional swim program designed to give children of all ability levels a comfortable and individually paced swimming environment. All swimmers are given individual goals and are encouraged to take pride in individual accomplishments. We believe strongly in the function of the team environment and the role of peers in encouraging swimmers to reach their goals. Each group sets team goals and all swimmers are encouraged to participate in accomplishing these goals. In our competitive training programs (Age Group & Senior) swimmers are placed in groups based first on age and second on ability. It is the belief at Buckeye Swim Club that swimmers should swim within their peer group whenever possible as this is a more powerful motivator than swimming with those of like ability. Swimmers who train in this environment tend to have better long term success and a higher enjoyment of swimming. Swimmers should expect to spend approximately 2 years (4 seasons) in each training group. Swimmer’s are evaluated by a coach at the beginning and end of each season. Swimmer’s are then placed into the group in which s/he meets the age and skill requirements. Swimmer’s must complete the season in the group they are placed. Once a competitive season is finished a swimmer may be moved into the next group (if they meet the age and skill requirements). If a swimmer has a birthday during the season s/he may be considered for placement in an older group at the start of the season.

Perhaps our motto best exemplifies our coaches and swimmers great spirit and attitude towards competitive swimming. Our program exemplifies fun, fitness and friends; three elements that we believe are critical to a child’s healthy development of self esteem, positive involvement in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and maximum realization of their swimming potential! The Buckeye Swim Club provides quality and individualized coaching for swimmers and builds great enthusiasm for the sport. Swim training fosters a healthy, attentive mind which is eager for learning of all kinds. This activity provides the personal, social and intellectual supports for individual growth. Diligent, hard working (but fun loving) parents are the hidden secret of success in the Buckeye program. The Buckeye parents and relatives contribute time and effort to support a stimulating and pleasant atmosphere for adolescent growth. Team functions, swim meets and fund raisers link parents, swimmers and coaches in a spirit of acceptance and cooperation. Buckeye Swimming is a simple concept. It is an activity which fosters unity and stability during crucial years of child development. Winning at Buckeye is the byproduct of the fun, enthusiasm and hard work of its membership.
